Canadian Season 4 Premiere Postponed Indefinitely

Thanks to Iden Ford for this update:

"I found out this morning that the start date of series 4 has been postponed.

I am terribly sorry but you may be waiting awhile to see season 4 in Canada. When the producers can confirm a new air date for season 4 on CITY TV, it will be announced.

I have also sent along many of your stated concerns regarding the website updates and communication.

Thank you for your patience

  1. Oh well, at least the UK knows how to show that they care about their shows. In case Yannick Bisson ever reads this: your Canadian fans adore you, Yannick, and we know you and everyone involved with "Murdoch" deserves way better than the disgraceful treatment from City TV.
Thanks for the info. Nicky, enjoy the rest of the season!

  2. Looks like we're looking at a late May premiere in Canada...probably waiting until end of regular TV season so they can get more viewers. Hang in there, beautiful fans!! Let's face it, though, Yannick Bisson is worth the wait. :)

  3. It' such a shame Canada is having to wait to see this season. It will be almost over in the UK by the time it somes to it's home country. Someone needs to give the producers a kick up the backside :)

  4. That's so unfair Canadians should be allowed to view the season premiere before any other country. Geesh, I hope the wait isn't too long!

  5. You are right Carol, Yannick is worth the wait! It is still so disappointing though. I am such a huge fan of the show and cast. In the meantime, while waiting for the premiere, I am just going to re-read Maureen's books :)

I have e-mailed City TV and Shaftesbury to express my disappointment at the premiere being postponed. Haven't heard anything back from them yet.

  6. Very glad that you emailed City TV, MMfan! If enough of us email them, maybe they'll do something about promoting the show on their website and station. So many people, each year, say they missed the premiere because they didn't know it was back on; City can easily remedy that.

  7. Murdoch is a joint production between Shaftesbury and UKTV but I think it should be aired at the same time in both countries. However, the UK has always received the show 4 weeksn before Canada and I've never really understood why that happens.

  8. That sucks! Although I have to confess, I've been watching them all online...This season is really good! I wanted to watch it on my tv though!

  9. I can't understand why such a great production would be held away from the Canadian viewers. I don't understand marketing and nothing makes sense, to me. I will continue to wait as I know it will be more than worthwhile!

  15. I found out from the CityTV website, that Murdoch Mysteries, Season Four is starting on Tues., May 10, 2011.

    Here is the link:

The first episode is called "All Tattered and Torn". I thought that it is an appropriate title, considering what happened in the final episode of Season Three.

  16. I would like to know how this show could be cancelled, as it is a refreshing experience. It is what anyone that enjoys historical history, with an innovative character, this is the show. PLEASE bring it back, there are fans, and I am proud to be one of them. I lived in the UK for 10 years, and miss this real type of experience, not driven by technology, sex, or bad language. Thank you for this show, and as we see by today's shows, this is a breath of fresh air.
